Planning a pregnancy?

If you’re thinking about trying to conceive in the next 3-6 months, you may want to think about a few things first. Preconception care is defined as a set of interventions aimed at identifying and modifying biomedical, behavioral, and social risks to a woman's health or pregnancy outcome through prevention and management. The goal is to ensure that the woman is as healthy as possible before conception to promote her health and the health of her future children. Its ultimate aim is to improve maternal and child health, in both the short and long term.
Planning a pregnancy is much like training for a marathon. Dr. Payne works with women in the pre-conception period to:
-
Regulate menstruation
-
Detox from oral contraceptives or IUDs
-
Obtain optimal nutritional status
-
Avoid potentially negative environmental toxins
-
Understand fertility signs and symptoms
